Comfort, efficiency, and considered urban planning were the key elements in the brief for the construction of three townhouses designed in association with boutique property developer Nest Residential.

The site is a 640m2 section that slopes down to a creek at the rear, a charming natural asset to the site but also a constraint to the buildable area.  Each dwelling, therefore, works hard to provide a high degree of amenity in a small footprint. Each of the homes has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a garage, with conscientious provision of outdoor living areas.  

The units targeted Passive House Institute Low Energy standard, and the design requirements were achieved at the independent pre-construction assessment.  Although the client has since elected not to pursue certification, the houses have undergone rigorous thermal modeling which demonstrates the high performance. Now that the buildings are under construction the thermal models are updated with as-built data that will give the residents quantifiable proof that their house is warm, healthy, and efficient.
